Slot a 3/32" copper tungsten bead onto a jig nymph hook, seat it at the eye, and start rusty brown thread behind it.
Tie in a short tuft of wood duck flank at the point for the tail, no longer than half a shank.
Bind in one strand of rootbeer midge flash and a length of small copper-brown wire, then build a slim tapered abdomen. Rusty brown thread over the back half, then tie in and continue with light cahill thread up front so the belly reads noticeably lighter than the back.
Rib the abdomen forward with 5 evenly spaced turns of wire to armor it, wiggle the wire off, then fold the flash forward over the top as a thin back stripe and bind it down.
Tie in a brown goose biot by the tip as a wing case, tented over the top, then build a slim thorax with the light thread or a wisp of dubbing.
Split a few olive-brown Antron fibers to each side as legs, pull the biot wing case forward over the thorax, and lock it behind the bead.
