Tungsten or brass bead Gold bead (1, sized to hook)
Ultra wire (rib) Gold wire (small, 1 strand)
Ice Dub (body) Peacock ice dub (small pinch)
Rubber/silicone legs Tan (UV) cone head (2 sets)
Mallard flank or partridge (collar) Natural partridge (1 feather)
UV cure resin Clear uv resin (as needed for head)
How to tie it
Debarb, slide the gold bead to the eye, and start the red thread behind it, leaving a short band of bare red thread showing right behind the bead as a hot collar.
Bind in the gold wire at the bend and run the thread back up to just behind the bead.
Dub a shaggy peacock Ice Dub body forward, stopping at the 75% mark; keep it buggy and picked-out, not tight.
Counter-wrap the gold wire forward through the body in 4-5 open turns and tie off behind the bead.
Tie a set of tan rubber legs on each side at the 75% mark so they splay out, trimming so the rear pairs reach the bend and the front pairs reach past the eye.
Tie in a mallard flank or partridge feather by the tip and take 2-3 turns as a soft-hackle collar, then sweep the fibers back and lock them down against the red thread.
Build a small red thread head, whip finish, then coat the head and thread collar with a thin layer of UV resin and cure.
