Tyer Recipe

  • Hook Jig nymph hook, barbless, 8-12
  • Thread Olive or black 8/0

Materials

  • Slotted tungsten bead Gold bead (1, sized to hook)
  • Marabou Olive, black or natural marabou (1 plume for tail)
  • Ice dub / sparkle chenille Gold ice dub (Small amount for body)
  • Flash Gold / pearl flash (A few strands)
  • Soft hackle (hen or pheasant) To match soft hackle (1 feather)

How to tie it

  1. Seat the gold tungsten bead on the jig hook, slot up, and start the thread behind it back to the point.
  2. Tie in a slim marabou tail one shank-length long, plus a couple of strands of gold flash the same length, and bind the butts forward to level the body.
  3. Twist gold ice dub onto the thread (or tie in gold sparkle chenille) and wrap a buggy body forward to just behind the bead.
  4. Tie in a soft hackle by the tip behind the bead.
  5. Wind one or two turns of the soft hackle as a leggy collar, sweep the fibers back, and tie off.
  6. Build a small thread collar behind the bead, whip finish and add a drop of cement.
