Slotted tungsten bead Gold or copper (lightweight) (1, sized to hook)
Marabou Natural pheasant olive-brown (1 plume for tail)
Krystal Flash Pearl/copper flash (3-4 strands)
Ring-neck pheasant rump or body feather Natural (mottled brown) ring neck pheasant rump or body feather (1-2 feathers)
Pheasant aftershaft or ice dub Brown/olive body dubbing or thread (Small pinch)
How to tie it
Slide the slotted tungsten bead onto the jig hook, slot toward the point, and seat it against the eye. Mount the hook and start the thread behind the bead, wrapping a smooth base back to the point above the barb.
Tie in a marabou tail one shank-length long, keeping it slim; bind the butts forward to the 70% point and trim to build a level underbody.
Add 3-4 strands of Krystal Flash along each side of the tail, the same length as the marabou, and secure.
Tie in a soft pheasant rump feather by the tip at the tail base, then twist a pinch of aftershaft or ice dub onto the thread and wrap a slim, buggy body forward to just behind the bead.
Palmer the pheasant feather forward through the body in 4-5 open turns so the fibers splay out as legs, then tie off behind the bead and trim the tip.
Wind one more soft pheasant turn as a leggy collar right behind the bead, sweep the fibers back, and lock down.
Build a small thread collar, whip finish behind the bead, and add a drop of head cement.
