How to tie it
Start the thread at the 1/3 point on a large saltwater hook, take a few wraps, cut the tag, and form a small thread bump (pyramid) with your wraps.
Lash a pair of 3/16 in lead eyes (Spirit River Eyeballs) on top at this point: use crisscross wraps, 360-degree wraps, and wraps around each stem (three to five turns per side). Take extra wraps and add a drop of head cement so the eyes cannot rotate. Then lay a thread base back to just past the bend.
Wrap a small piece of orange McFly foam or egg yarn around the thread, bring it to the top and wrap over it so it pokes out the back; snip to leave a small orange ball (egg spot).
Tie in the first mono shrimp eye at the bend so it sticks out about half a shank length; tie in the second on the opposite side the same way, adjusting so both are even. Secure both with wraps forward to about the halfway mark, then trim the excess mono.
Tie in a small clump of rabbit fur ahead of the eyes and spread it into a fan.
Measure a marabou plume about a shank length (or slightly shorter) and tie it in so it shoots out the back; trim the butts and spread the fibers slightly.
Wrap a single rubber leg around the thread, bring it to the top, wrap over it, then separate the two ends and wrap back on the last turn so a leg sticks out each side.
Add superglue over the thread base and wrap the thread back and forth to speed drying, leaving the glue slightly tacky.
Tie in the chenille at the rear and wrap it forward over the tacky glue to just behind the lead eyes, folding it back on each turn for an even body; tie off at the eyes.
Turn the fly over and tie in a small clump of combed arctic fox body hair (tan) as the first wing; trim and cover the butts, then bring the thread in front of the eyes. Wrap the chenille forward, crossing over the eyes, take a wrap or two in front, tie off and trim; then cut the chenille off the top directly over the eyes so the fly sits right.
Turn the fly over again and tie in a second, fuller clump of arctic fox body hair as the wing/collar. Fold the hair back, build a small thread head, and whip finish.
Coat the head generously with glue or lacquer and stroke the fibers back to shape the wing.
