Tyer Recipe

  • Hook standard dry/wet fly, 10-14
  • Thread black 8/0

Materials

  • golden pheasant tippet Orange/black golden pheasant tippet (small bunch for tail)
  • chenille Black chenille (body)
  • duck quill or calf White duck quill slips (upright wing)
  • hackle Brown hackle (2-3 turns)

How to tie it

  1. Start thread and run a base to the bend.
  2. Tie in a short bunch of golden pheasant tippet fibers for the tail.
  3. Tie in black chenille at the bend and wrap forward to just behind the eye, leaving room, and tie off.
  4. Tie in a white wing (calf or duck quill) upright and slightly forward.
  5. Tie in and wrap a brown hackle 2-3 turns behind and in front of the wing.
  6. Whip finish.
