Marabou tail / wing case To match marabou (1 plume (long butts))
Body dubbing Seal substitute (olive/brown) (as needed)
Rib Copper wire (1 length)
Palmered hackle Burnt orange (1 saddle feather)
How to tie it
Optionally add ~6 turns of lead near the eye; start thread and lay a base to the bend.
Tie in a somewhat sparse marabou tail about one shank long using a long plume, leaving the butts long. They become the wing case.
Catch in copper wire for the rib.
Tie in a burnt-orange saddle hackle by the tip.
Dub a slim body forward, ending about one eye-length behind the eye. Keep it lean, not full.
Palmer the hackle forward, then counter-rib with the copper wire to lock it; tie off.
Pull the leftover marabou butts forward over the top as a wing case, tie down one eye-length back and trim; build a smooth head, whip finish and cement.
