Dubbing Burnt orange (Three small amounts, rear ball, mid ball, and behind the eyes)
Sili legs Clear/pearl silver rubber legs (2 strands folded in half)
Grizzly micro legs Grizzly hackle (3-4 strands)
Mono shrimp eyes Black mono or thread (1 pair)
Dumbbell eyes - (1 small pair)
Caenis / vicuna dubbing Cream laser dub (A generous amount for the dubbing loop)
Cyanoacrylate glue Clear head cement (A dab at the dumbbell and at the head)
How to tie it
Start white GSP thread and wrap back to roughly the hook point, then forward and back again to lock the base down. Trim the tag.
Wax the thread, spin on a little burnt orange dubbing and form a small ball at the rear. Its only job is to prop the legs out.
Fold two clear/pearl silver sili legs in half and tie them in on top just ahead of the dubbing ball, stretching them as you bind them so they seat. Trim them to a shrimp-leg length.
Tie in three or four grizzly micro legs the same way, stretching them well and binding them back to the rear dubbing ball. Cut these a little longer than the sili legs.
Dub a second, larger burnt orange ball ahead of the legs. Keep this one loose enough that you can pick it out later. Brush it out with a stiff brush.
Move to the front and tie the small dumbbell eyes in behind the eye with figure-eight wraps: two or three one way, two or three the other, then wraps underneath to seat them, then another set underneath. Add a dab of CA glue.
Tie the mono shrimp eyes in one at a time along the sides so they angle downward and extend a little past the bend of the hook. Trim each to length, then crank the thread down hard. Mono is slippery, so this is where GSP earns its keep.
Dub a little more burnt orange loosely just behind the dumbbell.
Make a dubbing loop, load it generously with cream caenis/vicuna dubbing, and spin it tight. Wrap it forward from the mid-body, stroking the fibers back on each turn, and lock it in hard right behind the dumbbell eyes.
Whip finish in front of the eyes (twice, without cutting the thread, so you can go back if needed), then brush the body out aggressively with a stiff barbecue brush to raise the dubbing. Final whip finish, trim, add a dab of CA glue and bend the mono eyes outward.
