How to tie it
Mount a Hends BL 254N in size 10 and start the rust waxed thread on the shank.
Take a pinch of the rust Dark Water dubbing and pull-and-stack it repeatedly until the fibers all run the same direction, then roll it between your fingers into a clump.
Bind the clump down at the rear of the shank, then fold it back over itself to form the tail. A dubbing tail slicks back and moves better than a fiber tail.
Form a dubbing loop just in front of the tail and wax it well.
Load the loop with the midnight black Dark Water dubbing in small pinches, all pulled in one direction, spread them out slightly along the loop, then spin it tight with the dubbing spinner.
Brush the spun loop out with a stiff steel barbecue brush — the dubbing is soft and spiky at once and needs the fibers picked free.
Take a couple of turns of the loop right at the back, then wrap forward hard up against each previous turn, burying the step left by the tail tie-in, and carry it nearly to the eye. Tie off, stroke everything back and cut the excess.
Build a substantial head, whip finish five turns, put head cement on the thread itself and take another three or four whip finish turns before cutting the thread.
Stroke everything back, melt off the few stray fibers with a lighter, then get rough with the brush forwards and backwards to pull all the body fibers out.
