Materials
Coq de Leon tailing fibers Pardo (3-4 fibers)
Dry fly poly yarn Golden olive llama wool (One length for the body)
Mirage/mirror tinsel Pearl flashabou (0.4 mm, one length for the rib)
CDC Olive cdc (3 feathers for the rear wing, 3-4 more for the legs)
CDC Bright yellow cdc (3-4 feathers for the parachute post)
How to tie it
Wax the nano silk before mounting it, start the thread and wrap back to where the barb would be. Do not go around the bend. Leave two to three eye-lengths of bare shank behind the eye for the wing and post.
Tie in three or four Coq de Leon pardo fibers at the rear with a pinch wrap so they sit on top, tail about one body-length long. Pull any short fibers out to even the tips, bind the butts forward to the front of the body area and trim.
Tie in the 0.4 mm mirage tinsel at the rear and set it aside. No wire is used. This fly must not carry extra weight.
Tie in golden olive dry fly poly yarn and wrap a slim body forward in touching turns to the 75% point, keeping it thin. Tie off and trim the excess and any stragglers.
Counter-wrap the mirage tinsel forward over the body in open turns, just enough sparkle to attract, not enough to overwhelm the natural look. Tie off and trim. Handle the mirror tinsel gently; it is fragile.
Select three olive CDC feathers, stack them tips together and tie them in at the 75% point as a short backward-swept wing that reaches only just past the bend. Bind down tight, lift and cut the excess, and bring the thread back a touch.
Tie in three or four bright yellow CDC feathers at the same point, tips forward and upright, for the parachute post. Make it a substantial, high-visibility bunch about the same length as the wing or slightly longer. Trim the waste and put in a half hitch.
Rotate the vise, gather only the yellow CDC and post it upright with thread wraps around the base of the bunch, separating out any olive fibers that stray into it.
Untwist the thread counterclockwise and split it. Stack three or four long olive CDC feathers, cut them from the stem and lay the fibers into the split thread. Spread them slightly, pinch, and spin the bobbin clockwise to lock them into a CDC rope; brush the fibers out.
Wrap the CDC rope around the base of the yellow post in parachute fashion to form the legs, then bring everything forward, build a small head, whip finish and trim.
