Mount a Hends BL254N. Wax the olive Nano Silk before you start it — GSP threads bind to the hook better waxed — and lay a base back to about where the barb would be, no further round the bend. Leave two or three eye-lengths of clear space at the front for the wing and post.
Tail: three or four CDL tailing fibers about as long as the body, set with a pinching wrap. Pull any short strands out so the tips match, bind the butts forward to where the body will end and snip.
Tie in the 0.4mm mirage tinsel at the tail and come forward a little.
Tie in the golden olive poly yarn and wrap the body forward in touching turns, keeping it slim and stopping short so the front section still has room. Tie off, trim, and nip out the long stragglers.
Counter-wrap the mirage tinsel forward as the rib. It adds a hint of sparkle and no weight, which is why there is no wire on this fly.
Wing: pick two or three olive CDC feathers with good tips and tie them in at the front so they sweep back only a short way over the body — caddis-like at this stage, but it reads as a mayfly once the rest is on. Lift and cut the excess, then come back a little.
Post: stack three or four bright yellow CDC feathers about the same length as the wing or slightly longer and tie them in tight in front. Cut the waste away.
Half hitch so you don't lose the thread, turn the vise, gather only the yellow CDC and slick the olive back out of the way, then wrap a parachute post up around the yellow.
Legs: untwist the thread counterclockwise, stack three or four long olive CDC feathers and cut them off the centre stem, then load them into a split thread. Spread them slightly, pinch and spin the bobbin clockwise, giving it two good spins. Brush the loop out.
Wrap the CDC loop around the post, then bring the thread forward, sweep all the material back and build a small head. Whip finish and add head cement.
Hold the post and brush the olive CDC down on both sides so the legs sit out buggy in every direction, then trim the post down by about half — it is only there as an indicator.
