Rear body dubbing Fox squirrel belly (creamy-tan) (as needed)
Thorax dubbing Fox squirrel back (dark) (as needed)
Rib Gold oval tinsel or wire (1 length)
Soft hackle Brown partridge or hen (1 feather)
How to tie it
Slide a gold bead to the eye and add a few turns of lead behind it for weight; start thread.
Tie in a small tuft of fox squirrel back hair as a tail, half a shank long, at the bend.
Catch in a length of gold oval tinsel or wire for the rib.
Dub the rear half of the body with creamy-tan fox squirrel belly fur; dub the front half (thorax) with darker fox squirrel back fur, leaving it shaggy.
Rib the whole body forward with 4-5 open turns of tinsel and tie off.
Wrap one turn of brown partridge or hen soft hackle at the front for legs and sweep it back; for a hot-spot variation, build a short orange thread collar behind the bead.
