Reference Recipe

  • Hook 60-degree jig hook, 8-12
  • Thread Tan, gold or black 6/0

Materials

  • Slotted tungsten bead Gold bead (1, sized to hook)
  • Marabou tail To match (olive, tan, black) marabou (1 clump)
  • Estaz / cactus chenille Gold or pearl estaz cactus chenille (1 length)

How to tie it

  1. Slide a gold slotted tungsten bead onto the jig hook, wide slot toward the eye; seat it and start thread behind it.
  2. Lay a thread base to the bend and tie in a marabou tail about one shank length.
  3. Tie in a length of gold or pearl Estaz (cactus chenille) at the bend.
  4. Wrap thread forward to behind the bead, then palmer the Estaz forward in touching turns, stroking the fibers back with each wrap; tie off behind the bead.
  5. Build a small thread collar, whip finish behind the bead and cement.
