  • Hook 3XL-4XL curved nymph, 4-8
  • Thread Black or brown 6/0

Materials

  • Lead wire - (12-15 turns)
  • Chenille or Ice dub body Black or brown dubbing (as needed)
  • Round rubber legs Black/barred rubber legs (3 pairs)
  • Rubber or biot tails Black or brown goose biots (2)
  • Rubber antennae Black or brown rubber legs (2)

How to tie it

  1. Wrap 12-15 turns of lead wire on the front half of the shank for weight; start thread and lock the wraps.
  2. At the bend tie in two rubber-leg tails (or brown biots) splayed in a V, half a shank long.
  3. Tie in the chenille and a first set of rubber legs; wrap the chenille forward a third of the shank and cinch a pair of legs to each side.
  4. Continue wrapping the body forward, adding a second and third pair of rubber legs at even intervals. Legs that come alive in the current.
  5. At the head tie in two rubber antennae pointing forward over the eye.
  6. Build a thread head, whip finish and cement.
