Reference Recipe
- Hook Standard dry fly, 16-18
- Thread Dark brown or purple 8/0
Materials
- Wing Dun poly, CDC or dun hackle tips (1 upright)
- Tail (split microfibbets) Medium/dark dun tailing fibers (few fibers)
- Body Mahogany quill or dubbing (as needed)
- Dry hackle Blue dun hackle (1 feather)
How to tie it
- Start thread and tie an upright divided dun hackle-tip wing (or a single dun post) about one shank tall.
- Tail: split a few dun microfibbets or hackle fibers at the bend, one shank long.
- Wrap a stripped mahogany quill (or dub a slim mahogany body) forward to the wing for fine segmentation.
- Tie in a blue-dun dry hackle at the wing.
- Wrap 2-3 turns behind and in front of the wing for a Catskill collar (or, for a parachute, wind around the post and tie off beneath it).
- Whip finish and cement.
