  • Hook Standard dry fly hook, 14-20
  • Thread Black or gray 8/0

Materials

  • Tail hackle fibers Red hackle fibers (few)
  • Body quill Barred grizzly (black/white) body quill (1 stripped hackle stem)
  • Hackle Grizzly hackle (1 feather)

How to tie it

  1. Start thread and tie in a small bunch of red hackle fibers as a tail at the bend.
  2. Tie in a stripped grizzly hackle quill and wind it forward to create a segmented barred body.
  3. Tie in and wind a grizzly hackle as a dry-fly collar at the front.
  4. Build a small head and whip finish.
