Bead Gold bead (1, sized to hook)
Goose biot tail Red goose biots (2 biots)
Peacock herl Natural peacock herl (3-4 strands)
Goose biot wings White goose biots (2 biots)
Hen hackle Brown hen hackle (1 feather)
How to tie it
Slide the gold bead onto the hook small-hole first and seat it behind the eye. Start thread behind the bead and lay a base back to the bend.
At the bend tie in two red goose biots as a split tail, tips splayed in a shallow V about one hook-gap long.
Bind in 3-4 peacock herls by their tips, twist them with the thread into a rope for durability, and wrap forward to just behind the bead. Snip the waste.
Tie in two white goose biots over the back as wings: point them forward over the eye, then fold them back so they lie flat in a shallow V, and anchor at the bead.
Wrap a brown hen collar 2-3 turns behind the bead, sweep the fibers back and pin them with a couple of thread turns.
Build a small thread collar, whip finish behind the bead and add a drop of cement.
