- Hook 2xl-3xl nymph, gold bead, 8-14
- Thread Orange 6/0 (140 denier)
Materials
- Gold bead Gold bead (1)
- Red fox squirrel back guard hairs Rusty (tail)
- Red fox squirrel belly dubbing Rusty tan (abdomen)
- Ultra wire Gold wire (rib)
- Barred rubber legs Brown/black rubber legs (2 pairs)
- Red fox squirrel back dubbing Darker/spiky (thorax)
How to tie it
- Slide a gold bead to the eye and start thread at the bend.
- Tie in a small clump of squirrel back guard hairs as a tail, half a shank long, plus a length of gold wire.
- Dub a rusty squirrel-belly abdomen to the 55% mark, then rib it with 4-5 turns of gold wire and tie off.
- Pinch a pair of barred rubber legs onto each side at the thorax with figure-8s, two per side.
- Dub a spiky squirrel-back thorax around and through the legs up to the bead.
- Whip finish behind the bead, trim the legs to about one shank each, and cement.
