Rubber legs Red spanflex (Three strands, small, 1 1/4 in long)

How to tie it
Slide the 3.5 mm brass bead onto the Mustad 3366, mount the hook and lay a black thread base back to the bend.
Drape three strands of small red rubber, an inch and a quarter long, over the thread and tie them in at the bend. Lift the butt ends as you wrap so each turn slides down the rubber and meets the last one: any gap in the thread will let the rubber bulge and it will be hard to bind down later.
Strip the fuzz off the end of a piece of small red chenille to expose the core, tie it in at the rear and take one full wrap for the butt, then secure and clip the excess.
Bring the thread to the front and tie in small gold wire on the near side, in line with the shank, then bind it back to the butt.
Wrap the thread forward and back to form a smooth black body from the butt to the bead. Flat-lying thread (unspun UTC) gives the smoothest result.
Spiral the gold wire forward in evenly spaced turns to form the rib, tie it off behind the bead and helicopter it off.
Coat the body with thin UV resin using a bodkin to spread it evenly, then cure it under a light.
Prepare a black rooster hackle by trimming a little off both sides of the base, tie it in behind the bead shiny side toward you, and take five or six turns for the collar. Tie off and clip the excess feather.
Whip finish behind the bead and clip the thread.
Split the rubber tail strands by stretching each one with a fingernail (or start them with a bodkin) so they separate into finer legs.
