Reference Recipe

• Hook Curved emerger / standard dry, 14-18
• Thread Rusty brown 8/0 (70 denier)

Materials

• Antron or Z-lon Amber/brown antron or z lon (trailing shuck)
• Stripped hackle stem or quill Reddish brown (body)
• CDC or poly Dun cdc feather (emerger wing)
• Dry hackle Blue dun hackle (1 feather)

How to tie it

1. Start thread behind the eye and run it to the bend.
2. Tie in a sparse tuft of amber Antron at the bend as a trailing shuck, half a shank long. The shed nymphal skin.
3. Tie in a soaked, stripped reddish-brown quill and wrap it forward in touching turns to the 65% mark for a segmented body, then give it a thin UV or cement coat.
4. Tie in a CDC feather (or dun poly) at the 65% mark and stand it up as a short emerger wing, leaning slightly forward.
5. Take 2 turns of a blue-dun hackle at the wing base, then trim the hackle flat underneath so the fly sits low in the film.
6. Build a small head, whip finish, and cement.
