Red Neck Gasolina Perdigon

Nymph · Trout · Intermediate · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook Jig hook, slotted tungsten bead, 16-20
  • Thread Dark brown 70 denier

Materials

  • Slotted tungsten bead Gold bead (1)
  • Coq de Leon fibers Natural coq de leon fibers (tail)
  • Krystal Flash Brown holographic flashabou (rib / body flash)
  • Tinsel or Mylar Red tinsel (collar)
  • UV resin Clear thin (body shell)

How to tie it

  1. Slide a gold slotted tungsten bead onto the jig hook to the eye and start dark brown thread.
  2. Tie in a small bunch of coq de leon fibers as a tail, half a shank long and slightly splayed.
  3. Tie in a strand of brown Krystal Flash, wrap a smooth thin thread body to the 80% mark, then rib forward with the Krystal Flash in 5-6 turns.
  4. Behind the bead wrap a bright red tinsel collar, a few turns only. This red 'neck' hot spot is the twist on the standard Gasolina.
  5. Whip finish behind the bead.
  6. Coat the whole body and collar with thin UV resin and cure for the slick, fast-sinking perdigon shell.
