Closed-cell foam strip Tan fly tying foam (1 (a bit wider than the gap))
Elk hair Natural deer hair (sparse underwing)
Round rubber legs Red spanflex (2 pairs)
Poly yarn Hi-viz orange (indicator post)
How to tie it
Lay a thread base to the bend.
Bind a tan foam strip at the bend, then fold it forward and tie it down at the mid and 75% marks to create two body segments, leaving a short foam head over the eye.
Tie in a sparse elk hair wing at the 75% tie-down, tips reaching the bend, lying over the body.
Pinch a pair of red round-rubber legs onto each side with figure-8s so two kick out per side, then trim each to one shank.
Post a tuft of hi-viz orange poly yarn upright at the front tie-down, trimmed to a hook-gap tall, for visibility.
Whip finish under the foam head and cement the thread wraps.
