Red Hot Worm
Nymph · Trout · Steelhead · Beginner · 1 version
Reference Recipe
- Hook Curved scud or standard nymph, 8-14
- Thread Red 70 denier
Materials
- Bead (optional) Gold or red bead (1)
- Ultra chenille (San Juan worm) Red chenille (1 length)
How to tie it
- Optionally slide a gold or red bead to the eye, then start thread mid-shank.
- Center a length of red Ultra chenille on the shank and bind it down at the midpoint, then again a few wraps forward, so equal tags hang off each end.
- Wrap thread over the shank between the tie-down points to build a thin red underbody.
- Whip finish at the center (or behind the bead) and add a drop of cement.
- Taper both chenille ends to points with a quick touch from a lighter, then trim each tag to about one shank long.
