Hackle fibers Red hackle fibers (Small bunch for the tail)
Uni-Mylar Peacock one side, orange the other (orange side up) (Size 16, one 3.5 in strand)
Peacock herl Dyed green (natural or peacock Ice Dub also work) (Three or four strands)
Hackle Brown hackle (One feather)
Ice Dub UV pink ice dub (Small pinch for the collar)
How to tie it
Slide the 1/8 in offset slotted bead onto the barbless jig hook and run red thread from behind the bead back to the rear of the shank.
Tie in a small bunch of red hackle fibers at the rear for a prominent tail, in the old English wet fly style, and bind the butts forward.
Tie in a three and a half inch length of size 16 Uni-Mylar at the rear with the orange side facing up.
Tie in three or four strands of green dyed peacock herl at the rear and twist them into a rope; peacock is fragile on its own, and roped up it becomes very strong.
Wrap the peacock rope forward to just behind the bead and tie it off.
Rib forward with open turns of the Uni-Mylar for clean segmentation over the herl, tie off behind the bead and trim.
Tie in a brown hackle behind the bead and take two or three turns for a soft collar, stroking the fibers back, then tie off and trim. Throw in a half hitch.
Dub a thin noodle of UV pink Ice Dub onto the thread, taking a little at a time, and wrap a small bright collar right behind the bead.
Build a small red head, whip finish and trim the thread.
