How to tie it
Bead the hook with a slotted gold tungsten and start the hot red A5 thread at the rear of the shank.
Build a short, bright red butt with the A5 thread at the bend, keeping it to about a fifth of the shank. This tag is the only colour on the fly and it does all the work, so make it clean-edged rather than tapered.
Tie in a sparse Coq de Leon corzuno oscuro tail directly over the butt.
Switch to black A2 thread and wrap a smooth tapered body forward to just behind the bead, covering the front edge of the red butt so the transition is sharp.
Whip finish, then coat the whole body in medium-viscosity UV resin and cure. The resin is what turns two threads into a hard, fast-sinking perdigon.
Fish it as the point fly on a Euro rig. Vasies notes it works equally well tied with a hot orange butt.
