- Hook down-eye wet fly / salmon hook, 4-8
- Thread black 6/0
Materials
- Tail Red hackle fibers (small bunch)
- Body Flat silver tinsel (shank length)
- Rib Fine silver wire (1 strand)
- Throat hackle Black hen (1 collar/beard)
- Wing Red and blue (dyed goose/mallard sections) (matched slips)
How to tie it
- Start thread behind the eye and lay a smooth base to the bend above the barb.
- Tie in a short bunch of red hackle fibers for the tail.
- Wrap flat silver tinsel forward to form the body and rib it with fine silver wire in even open turns.
- Tie in a black hen throat/beard hackle below the shank.
- Set matched red-and-blue wing slips low over the body, form a neat head, and whip finish.
