How to tie it
Peel the backing off metal tape and fold it over the hook from the return eye back to even with the point, then trim it to a belly shape with straight and curved scissors. That tape shell is what gives the fly a real fish body rather than a bundle of fibres.
Remove the insert from small pearl Mylar tubing, slide it over the tape so the ends sit slightly past the bend, and secure the rear with 18/0 thread and the front with 24/0.
Set the silver eyes in underneath between the hook eye and the Mylar body and cement them.
Build the rear wing behind the eyes: white polar fibre underneath even with the point, white on top slightly longer, chartreuse Shimmer Fringe over that, light pink polar fibre over the fringe. Add a thin section of red polar fibre on each side in the middle of the body for gills.
Spin pearlescent Ice Dub in a split thread and wrap it behind and between the eyes, then add olive polar fibre on top slightly longer and white underneath slightly shorter in front of the eyes.
Pull all the wing fibres back tight and wrap a collar behind the eyes, then fold two strands of olive and pearl Crystal Flash over the thread on each side for the lateral line. Wrap red thread over the white collar.
Taper the butts in front of the eyes, spin chartreuse Ice Dub and wrap it in front, then add grey polar fibre on top, white underneath, peacock herl tips as a topping and two grey grizzly hackle tips about three quarters the wing length on each side. Cover the head in black thread, then take the fly off the vise and add parr markings in black and red permanent marker before cementing.
