Streamer · Largemouth Bass · Smallmouth Bass · Panfish · Intermediate · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook Streamer, 3XL-4XL (e.g. TMC 5263), 2-6
  • Thread White then olive 6/0 (140 denier)

Materials

  • Bucktail (belly) White bucktail (sparse clump)
  • Flash Pearl flashabou (few strands)
  • Bucktail / synthetic (bands) Pink and olive-green bucktail synthetic (sparse clumps)
  • Dumbbell or bead-chain eyes Painted dumbbell eyes medium (1 pair)
  • Dubbing/thread (gill) Red ice dub (small)

How to tie it

  1. Start thread behind the eye and lash dumbbell eyes on top at the 20% mark with figure-8s and glue.
  2. Behind the eyes, bind a sparse clump of white bucktail as the belly reaching about 1.5 shank lengths, then add a few strands of pearl flash.
  3. Add a thin pink band, then an olive-green clump over it to layer the rainbow-trout coloring; keep every layer sparse.
  4. Add a couple of pink lateral flash strands down the sides and a short red throat under the head for gills.
  5. Figure-8 around the eyes, build a neat thread head, and whip finish.
  6. Snip and coat the head with cement or UV resin; a marker can bar the back if desired.
