Rainbow Assassin Tungsten Jig
Nymph · Trout · Intermediate · 1 version
Reference Recipe
- Hook Barbless jig (e.g. Fulling Mill Jig Force), 14-18
- Thread Red 10/0 (70 denier)
Materials
- Slotted tungsten bead Silver bead (1, sized to hook)
- Coq de leon (tail) Pardo (6-8 fibers)
- Mylar tinsel (body) Pearl mylar tinsel (1 strand)
- Wire rib Silver wire (fine, 1 strand)
- Ice dub (thorax) Rainbow (small pinch)
How to tie it
- Slot a silver tungsten bead onto a jig hook, seat it behind the eye, and start red thread.
- Tie in a few coq de leon fibers at the 60% mark, bind to the bend, and leave a tail one hook-gap long; catch in a strand of fine silver wire.
- Wrap a pearl mylar body forward to the 65% mark and tie off, then counter-rib 4-5 turns of wire and break off.
- Leave two turns of red thread showing behind the bead as a hot collar.
- Dub a short, brushy thorax of rainbow ice dub between the body and bead, then pick it out to sparkle.
- Whip finish behind the bead and snip; a drop of UV resin over the body adds shine and durability if desired.
