How to tie it
Slot a tungsten slotted bead onto the size 14 jig hook, seat it behind the eye, and start the Nano Silk 18/0.
Wrap back to the bend and tie in seven or eight Hareline Coq De Leon fibres, grabbed as one bunch, for a tail one shank length long. A couple of loose wraps first let you slide the fibres to length before you lock them down; trim the butts.
Back at the front, tie in the Ultra Wire rib — push the tip of the wire up into the slot of the bead — and bind it all the way back to the tail.
Tie in a turkey biot at the front, skipping the thin unusable tip section, with the fuzzy tapering edge pointing up and away from the hook point.
Wrap the biot forward away from you, fuzzy edge leading toward the bead, then tie it off and trim.
Counter-wrap the wire forward over the biot in the opposite direction to the body, lock it with a couple of tight thread wraps, then pull down and helicopter it until it breaks off.
Tie in five or six Cinnamon Tip Turkey Tail fibres for the abdomen case: two loose wraps, let the bobbin weight hold them while you set them flat on the body, then cinch tight and trim. Push the tie-in back so the abdomen section runs about one bead-width back from the bead.
Dub a ball of Dark Hare's Mask the same size as the bead.
Pull the turkey case forward over the dubbing, hold it with two loose wraps under the bobbin's weight until it sits right, then cinch down.
Pick a full brown Cul De Canard feather with short fibres no longer than the body, stroke the fibres back, and tie it in a few fibres down from the tip so you are holding strong stem.
Palmer the CDC forward, stroking the fibres back on every turn so none are trapped under the stem; lock it with wraps behind the stem, trim, and add a few wraps in front to sweep every fibre rearward.
Whip finish behind the bead, keeping the CDC clear of the whip, and snip. Optionally set the tiniest dab of Solarez Bone Dry Plus on the bead itself, nudge it back toward the thread with a bodkin, and cure it with UV.
