Reference Recipe
- Hook Barbless jig (e.g. Hanak 400BL), 14-18
- Thread Black or red 10/0 (70 denier)
Materials
- Slotted tungsten bead Gold bead (1, sized to hook)
- Coq de leon (tail) Pardo (6-8 fibers)
- Tinsel (body) Pearl or opal tinsel (1 strand)
- Hot-spot thread collar Red or black tying thread (few turns)
- UV resin Clear plus one black drop (thin coat)
How to tie it
- Slot a gold tungsten bead onto a jig hook, seat it behind the eye, and start thread.
- Tie in a small clump of coq de leon fibers at the 60% mark, wrap to the bend, and leave a tail one hook-gap long.
- Bind pearl or opal tinsel at the bend and wrap a slim, smooth body forward to just behind the bead; tie off.
- Build a short hot-spot collar of red or black thread behind the bead and whip finish.
- Coat the body in thin UV resin and cure, then add one small drop of black resin on top behind the bead as the raindrop wingcase marker and cure again.
