Tyer Recipe
- Hook Standard dry-fly hook, 12-16
- Thread Brown 8/0
Materials
- Polypropylene yarn Light brown/tan polypropylene yarn (one length for body and wing)
- Polypropylene yarn Dark brown polypropylene yarn (a few fibers for the head (optional))
How to tie it
- Start thread at the eye and lay a base back to the bend.
- Tie in a length of light brown poly yarn at the bend, leaving the long end trailing to the rear.
- Wind the thread forward to just behind the eye.
- Wrap the poly yarn forward in touching turns to build a slim segmented body up to the thread and tie off, leaving the tag long.
- Fold the remaining yarn back over the top of the body as a low tent-style wing reaching to the bend, and lock it down behind the eye.
- Trim the wing butt and, if desired, add a few dark poly fibers as a small head, then whip finish.
