Mount the Gamakatsu B10S size 1 and lay a base of 210 thread back to the bend.
Bind a single strand of 20 lb hard mono in at the bend as a weed guard, running the thread round the bend and back up in touching turns, then lock it with a drop of superglue so it cannot pivot.
Bind a second strand of the same 20 lb hard mono in as an anti-tangle guard, with a thumb-turn behind it so it holds position and keeps the soft tail off the hook.
Tie in the Rabbit Zonker tail about one and a half hook lengths long; use the back of the strip to cut from, since that leather is the heavy part.
Bind a pinch of Marabou in as a throat and let it travel up the sides, smoothing the transition between the collar and the tail.
Tie in the Cross cut zonker with the fibres sweeping back, palmer it forward in touching turns for a full collar, and tie it off tight.
Whip finish and flood the bare thread base ahead of the collar with glue — none of it will be seen, it is covered by the head. A slower-setting glue, epoxy or Liquid Fusion, buys you working time.
Slide the Rainy's foam diver head on over the glued base while it is wet and seat it snug against the collar. The top is airbrushed and finished with a couple of coats of Loon Soft Head.
Set a 5mm tape eye on each side of the head and seal them under the soft head coats.
Restart the thread in front of the head, tie the weed guard in, check it is not twisted, fold the tag back, bind it down and whip finish.
