Reference Recipe

  • Hook Jig streamer (e.g. Ahrex FW580), 2-8
  • Thread Olive, black, or white to match 6/0 (140 denier)

Materials

  • Slotted tungsten bead Gold or black bead (1, sized to hook)
  • Rabbit zonker strip (tail) Olive, black, or white rabbit zonker strip (1)
  • Flash Pearl or gold mylar tinsel flashabou (few strands)
  • Cross-cut rabbit strip (collar) To match tail (1)
  • Ice dub (optional collar) Peacock or UV ice dub (small pinch)

How to tie it

  1. Slot a tungsten bead onto a jig hook, seat it behind the eye, and start thread.
  2. Bind a rabbit zonker strip at the 30% mark as a tail reaching about 1.5 shank lengths past the bend.
  3. Tie in a few strands of flash along each side, about tail length.
  4. Bind a cross-cut rabbit strip and wrap it forward to behind the bead, stroking the fur back each turn; tie off.
  5. Optionally dub a collar of ice dub against the bead for a flashy head.
  6. Whip finish behind the bead, snip, and cement.
