Slide the 7/64 gold bead onto the curved caddis hook, push it up to the eye and start olive thread behind it, running a base to the bend.
Tie in the 6 lb fluorocarbon at the bend and leave it hanging out of the way; this will rib the body.
Tie in green holographic tinsel at the bend, wrap it forward in touching turns all the way to the bead to form the body, and tie it off.
Tie in a piece of orange micro chenille at the head end with just enough wraps to secure it, then lay it back over the top of the body.
Bring the fluorocarbon forward in open spirals over the chenille and body, ribbing the fly and pinning the over-body down at the same time. Tie off behind the bead.
Trim the orange chenille at the rear so about an eighth of an inch dangles past the bend as a tag; you can singe the tip with a lighter to round it if you prefer.
Tie in two mallard flank barbs on each side just behind the bead, about a hook length long and standing up off the shank, so they sit like legs on top of the fly.
Dub hare's ear onto the thread and wrap a full, bushy thorax between the wings and the bead.
Whip finish behind the bead with four or five turns and trim the thread.
