  • Hook 2XL nymph hook, 10-16
  • Thread Black 70 denier

Materials

  • Bead Gold bead (1)
  • Goose biots (tail) Brown goose biots (2)
  • Flat tinsel (rib) Gold oval tinsel (1 strand)
  • Ice dub / peacock herl (body) Purple ice dub peacock herl (pinch)
  • Hen hackle (collar) Brown hen hackle (1 feather)
  • Goose biots (wings) White goose biots (2)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the gold bead to the eye, mount the hook, and start black thread.
  2. Tie in two brown goose biots at the bend, splayed into a forked tail one shank length long.
  3. Tie in the flat gold tinsel for the rib.
  4. Dub a purple ice-dub body forward to the 75% mark.
  5. Rib the tinsel forward in 4-5 open turns and tie off.
  6. Tie in a brown hen hackle and take 2 turns as a soft collar, then sweep the fibers back.
  7. Lay two white goose biots flat over the top in a shallow V as wings, tips to the hook point.
  8. Whip finish behind the bead and cement.
