  • Hook standard wet-fly hook, 12-16
  • Thread Purple 8/0

Materials

  • Dubbing or floss (body) Purple ice dub (pinch)
  • Ultra wire (rib, optional) Silver wire (fine)
  • Partridge or hen hackle (soft hackle) Brown hen hackle (1 feather)
  • Peacock/hare dub (thorax, optional) Natural peacock herl (small)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the wet hook and start purple thread at the 80% mark, then wrap to the bend.
  2. Dub or wrap a slim purple body forward to the 75% mark.
  3. Optional: rib with fine silver wire in 4-5 turns for segmentation and flash.
  4. Tie in a brown partridge feather by the tip at the front.
  5. Take 1-2 turns of soft hackle, sweeping the fibers back and slightly down.
  6. Build a small thread head, whip finish, and cement.
