Reference Recipe

  • Hook standard dry-fly hook, 12-18
  • Thread Purple 8/0

Materials

  • Hackle fibers or moose (tail) Mixed Brown/Grizzly (small bunch)
  • Sparkle/flash dubbing (body) Purple ice dub (pinch)
  • Para-post wing White uni stretch (1 clump)
  • Dry hackle (parachute) Grizzly hackle (1 feather)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the hook and start the thread at the 70% mark.
  2. Tie in a white para-post wing upright at the 70% mark and post its base with thread wraps.
  3. Tie in a mixed grizzly/brown tail, one shank length long, at the bend.
  4. Dub a slim purple sparkle-dubbing body from the bend forward to the post.
  5. Tie in a grizzly hackle at the base of the post.
  6. Wrap the hackle parachute-style in 5-6 turns down the post and tie off under the post.
  7. Whip finish and add a small drop of cement at the eye.
