How to tie it
Slide the 2.3mm countersunk tungsten copper bead onto the size 18 Fulling Mill FM 5067 and start the UTC 70 purple thread on the shank, wrapping it all the way up behind the bead.
Tie in the medium pearlescent tinsel and wrap the body forward in overlapping turns to behind the bead. Medium rather than large tinsel is easier to overlap cleanly at this size and gives a smoother body that still takes the purple tint from the thread underneath.
Capture the tinsel with a couple of wraps behind and a couple in front, and trim it off as close as you can.
Whip finish the purple thread as close in as possible, get it out of the way, and attach the fluorescent orange Veevus 10/0 behind the bead.
Wrap the orange in for a collar, keeping it under control so it does not end up too big.
Tie in a small bunch of white polypropylene yarn at the front, keeping it nice and close, trim the butts off short and cover them with orange wraps to build the hot-spot collar. Trim the wing off at about the length shown, no longer.
With the bead seated and the wing secure, put in a four-turn whip finish, then pull the thread until it breaks rather than trimming it.
Coat the thread wraps very lightly with UV resin, working it right on top so it soaks into the polypropylene at the tying point and locks the wing in, then cure with the light.
