How to tie it
Slide the crackle tungsten bead on small hole first so the wide side faces back, and mount the Stealth C16 in the vice. The 2.8 mm bead is deliberately oversized to get the fly down in faster water.
Start the purple 12/0 behind the bead, run about ten wraps down the shank and back up to build a slight taper, then trim the tag.
Tie in the 0.2 mm pink wire on top of the shank, pushing the free end up into the bead to hold it, and take touching wraps back down the shank, jumping over the old tag stub, going well into the bend.
Advance the thread back up covering all of the wire so you are left with nothing but clean purple, and finish with the thread hanging behind the bead.
Start the wire with three or three and a half wraps back down into the bend, then jump forward and cover the gap between where the thread ended and where the wire wraps begin.
Spiral the wire evenly forward to the bead, keeping the turns a little closer together towards the bend and opening them slightly as they come forward.
Take a second wire wrap tight behind the bead, which the thread will cover, then tie off with wraps behind and in front.
Snip the wire with flush cutters and push the stub up into the bead with a fingernail so nothing is left proud.
Three or four turn whip finish over the tag, trimming as close as you can without cutting into the fly.
Work a full drop of Solarez Bone Dry Plus over the thread and wire, wiping any excess off with a finger, and cure for ten to fifteen seconds, turning the fly so every side gets light.
