Materials

  • Z-lon (trailing shuck) Amber / brown z lon (small tuft)
  • Pheasant tail fibers (body) Natural pheasant tail fibers (4-5 fibers)
  • Deer hair (wing) Coastal / natural (1 clump)
  • Dubbing (thorax) Brown / PT (1 pinch)

How to tie it

  1. Run a thread base to the bend.
  2. At the 65% mark, stack fine deer hair and stand it in an upright 180-degree fan wing, one shank long; trim and bind the butts.
  3. Tie in a sparse amber Z-lon shuck at the bend, kept short.
  4. Wrap 4-5 pheasant tail fibers forward as a slim tapered body to the wing; tie off.
  5. Dub a small thorax around the base of the wing to brace it upright.
  6. Whip finish behind the eye, cement.
