Psycho Prince Tungsten Rubberleg

Nymph · Trout · Advanced · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook 1XL-2XL nymph hook, 12-16
  • Thread Black 8/0

Materials

  • Slotted tungsten bead Gold or copper slotted tungsten bead (1, sized to hook)
  • Goose biots (tail) Brown goose biots (2)
  • Ice Dub (abdomen) UV purple / wine / red (1 pinch)
  • Wire rib Silver wire (1 length, fine)
  • Rubber legs White / gray rubber legs (2 strands, fine)
  • Goose biots (wing) White goose biots (2)
  • Ice Dub (thorax) Peacock / black ice dub (1 pinch)

How to tie it

  1. Slide a slotted tungsten bead to the eye and start the thread behind it.
  2. Tie in two brown goose biots at the 75% mark, splayed into a shallow V tail.
  3. Bind in a fine silver wire rib, then dub a slim Ice Dub abdomen over the rear two-thirds up to the 60% mark.
  4. Counter-rib the wire forward over the abdomen in 4-5 open turns, tie off, snip.
  5. Figure-8 one fine rubber leg on each side of the shank at the thorax so a pair kicks off each side.
  6. Lay two white goose biots flat over the body as a V-wing reaching the abdomen midpoint; bind them in.
  7. Dub a peacock Ice Dub thorax around the legs up to the bead; sweep the legs clear.
  8. Whip finish behind the bead, cement.
