Beading wire Silver bead (for hook loop)
Mylar tinsel (body) Pearl mylar tinsel (1 length)
Arctic fox / Ice Dub (collar) White / pearl superfine dubbing (1 pinch)
Flashabou (wing) Pearl / glow (1 generous bunch)
Mallard flank (collar) Natural mallard flank (1 large feather)
Dumbbell eyes Lead / plated (1 pair)
Stick-on eyes 3D eyes (1 pair (optional))
How to tie it
Lash a loop of beading wire at the rear of the Waddington shank, thread on the trailing octopus hook, and bind the wire tag forward to lock the hook riding upright.
Wrap pearl mylar tinsel forward over the front third of the shank and tie off.
Spin a sparse pinch of white arctic fox (or pearl Ice Dub) in a dubbing loop and take 2-3 turns for a collar, stroking the fibers back after each wrap.
Double a generous bunch of pearl or glow Flashabou over the shank so it flares completely around the body and veils the fox, reaching past the trailing hook.
Wind a large mallard flank feather 2 soft turns as a collar and sweep it back.
Tie a dumbbell on top (so it rolls the fly point-up) just behind the eye, build a small head, whip finish and cement.
Press a 3D stick-on eye onto each side of the dumbbell to finish.
