Reference Recipe

Microfibetts / hackle fibers (tail) Dun or brown microfibetts hackle fibers (2-3 per side)
Goose biot (body) Rusty brown (1)
Para-post (post) Cerise / hi-vis pink (1 clump)
Poly macrame yarn (spent wings) Silver / white poly macrame yarn (1 clump)
Rooster hackle Brown or light dun rooster hackle (1 feather)

Start the thread and run a smooth base to the 75% mark.
Post a hi-vis cerise para-post wing upright at the 70% mark; stand it up with a few wraps around its base.
At the bend, split 2-3 tail fibers per side into a wide V using a small bump of dubbing or thread to prop them.
Bind a rusty brown goose biot at the tail base and wrap it forward in touching turns to just short of the post for a segmented body; tie off.
Figure-8 a sparse clump of silver poly yarn across the shank at the post base so the wings lie flat at 90 degrees to the body; trim each spent wing to one shank length.
Wind the rooster hackle 4-5 turns parachute-style around the base of the post, then secure it under the wing.
Dub a slim thorax with figure-8s around the post, whip finish behind the eye, trim the post to a short nub, cement.
