How to tie it
Slide an oversized tungsten bead to the eye of the heavy grub hook, then jam 10-12 turns of lead-free wire up into the back of the bead so this fly plummets. Start the thread behind the wire.
Tie in two black goose biots low over the bend so they splay into a V tail.
Catch in a fine silver wire rib and the tips of 3-4 peacock herls at the tail.
Rope the herl and wrap a plump body forward to just behind the bead; tie off.
Counter-rib the silver wire in 4-5 open turns for durability, tie off, snip.
Tie in a dark partridge feather by the tip and take 1-2 turns of soft hackle; sweep the fibers back and pin.
Set two black goose biots flat over the body as a dark V-wing reaching the midpoint; bind at the bead and trim.
