Seat the gold bead at the eye and start the thread behind it.
Tie in two brown goose biots at the 75% mark, splayed in a shallow V past the bend.
Bind in a length of fine copper wire and the tips of 3-4 peacock herls at the tail base.
Rope the herls and wrap a full body forward to just behind the bead; tie off.
Counter-rib the copper wire forward in 5-6 evenly spaced turns (the copper both segments the body and armors the fragile herl), tie off, helicopter to break, snip.
Take 2 sparse turns of brown hen hackle for a collar and sweep it back.
Lay two white goose biots flat over the body as a V-wing to the midpoint; bind at the bead and trim.
