Thread Black or Red Veevus 14/0
Materials
Weight 015 Lead Wire
Tails Brown goose biots, tied opposed
Rib Small gold oval tinsel
Body Peacock herl, dyed if you like
Hackle Mottled brown hen saddle for flies to #12, hen neck for #14s and smaller
Horns White goose biots, tied flat over the body
How to tie it
Seat the gold bead against the eye and start the thread behind it.
Bind two brown goose biots at the 75% mark, splayed in a shallow V, tips half a shank past the bend.
Tie in a fine gold wire rib and the tips of 3-4 peacock herls at the tail base.
Rope the herls together and wrap a plump body to just behind the bead; tie off.
Counter-rib the wire forward in 4-5 open turns for durability, tie off, snip.
Tie in a CDC feather by the tip and take just 1-2 turns for a wispy, breathing collar; sweep the fibers back (CDC pulses in current where stiff hen sits still).
Set two white goose biots flat over the body as a V-wing reaching the midpoint; bind at the bead and trim.
