Mount the spider hook and start with well-waxed yellow Pearsall's silk.
Wrap a slim bare body of the waxed silk from behind the eye to the bend and back to the thorax, the waxed silk turning translucent when wet is the whole point.
Tie in a young grouse (poult) hackle by the tip at the front of the body.
Take a single turn of the poult hackle (one turn only, this is the sparest of North Country spiders) then sweep the fibers back.
Form a tiny head, whip finish and add the barest touch of cement.
