Nymph · Largemouth Bass · Smallmouth Bass · Intermediate · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook wide-gap bass/popper hook, 1/0-2
  • Thread To match 3/0

Materials

  • Pre-shaped foam frog popper body Frog/green (1)
  • Rubber legs or marabou (rear legs) To match marabou (1 set)
  • Flash Pearl flashabou (1-2 strands)
  • Rubber legs (front) To match rubber legs (1 pair)
  • Stick-on eyes Angler's choice (1 pair)

How to tie it

  1. Lay a thread base over the rear half of the shank with a drop of super glue for grip.
  2. Tie in a set of splayed rubber legs (or marabou) as the trailing frog legs, about one shank length long, with a strand or two of flash.
  3. Whip finish and cut the thread at the rear stop.
  4. Test-fit the pre-slotted foam frog body so its fat pot-belly face sits behind the eye, then charge the slot with super glue.
  5. Slide the body on and pinch until it grabs, cupped face forward.
  6. Thread rubber front legs through the body sides with a needle so they splay.
  7. Stick an eye to each side and seal with a dab of glue.
