How to tie it
Slide a 5/32" (4mm) copper bead onto the Tiemco 5263 size 8 and put twelve turns of .030 lead on the shank as six turns, a small gap, then six more.
Run super glue into that gap. It locks the lead in place so you do not have to bury the whole thing under thread wraps.
Start dark brown UTC 70 and wrap back to the hook point.
Tail: strip down three marabou blood quills - two olive with a dark brown sandwiched between them - dampen them, line the tips up, and measure them a little longer than the shank. Bind them in with the butts running forward into the gap in the lead so they fill it and even the underbody out.
Flash: wrap a 1/32" strand of holographic tinsel down one side and fold it over so two strands lie on that side, do the same on the other side, and cut it about the length of the tail or a hair longer.
Bind the copper brown speckle chenille in right on top of where the marabou was tied in, come forward, take one turn of it and one holding wrap of thread.
Bind the small brown palmer chenille in at the same point and carry the thread all the way to the bead. Pops switched from saddle hackle years ago because the palmer chenille is more consistent and more durable.
Wrap the speckle chenille forward in touching turns right up to the bead and tie it off.
Palmer the brown palmer chenille forward over the body, finishing with two turns right at the bead, tie it off and finish the head behind the bead.
