Reference Recipe

  • Hook 3XL streamer hook, 4-10
  • Thread Black 6/0

Materials

  • Bead or cone (optional) Gold or black bead (1)
  • Marabou (tail) Angler's choice (1 plume)
  • Flash Pearl or Krystal Flash (few strands)
  • Chenille (body) To match chenille (1 length)
  • Saddle hackle (palmer) To match saddle hackle (1 feather)
  • Wire rib Copper wire (1 length)

How to tie it

  1. Slide a bead or cone to the eye (optional) and lay a thread base to the bend.
  2. Tie in a marabou tail about one shank length long and add a few strands of flash alongside.
  3. Tie in fine copper wire, then a saddle hackle by its tip, then the chenille. All at the bend.
  4. Wrap the chenille forward to the bead and tie off.
  5. Palmer the hackle forward in 5-6 evenly spaced turns to the bead and secure.
  6. Counter-wrap the wire forward through the hackle in open turns to lock it and armor the stem, then helicopter off the tag.
  7. Build a small head, whip finish, and cement.
