Materials

  • Tail Dubbing Starburst (metallic red)
  • Flash Flashabou (red)
  • Tail Bucktail (white/natural)
  • Gill Congo Hair (red)
  • Head Foam Cylinders (1/2", white)
  • Eyes Fish Skull Living Eyes (fire, 6mm)
  • Glue Loctite (brush on liquid)
  • UV Resin Solarez flex formula

How to tie it

  1. Lay a thread base over the rear half of the shank and add a drop of super glue so the foam grips later.
  2. Tie in a marabou tail about one shank length long, add a few strands of flash, and flank it with a couple of rubber legs on each side.
  3. Whip finish and cut the thread at the rear. This is where the foam body will end.
  4. Test-fit the pre-slotted foam popper body so the cupped face sits just behind the eye, then run super glue into the slot.
  5. Slide the body on and pinch until the glue grabs, keeping the cupped face pointing forward.
  6. Poke a rubber-leg strand through each side of the body with a needle so the legs splay out.
  7. Press a stick-on eye into each side of the head and seal with a dab of glue.
