Classic Recipe
- Hook straight-eye bass/wet hook, 4-10
- Thread black 6/0
Materials
- Tip Flat gold tinsel (small)
- Tail Brown over white duck/goose quill fibers (married) (small bunch)
- Body Red floss or wool (full shank)
- Rib Flat gold tinsel (4-5 turns)
- Hackle Brown hen hackle, as a collar/beard (1)
- Wing White duck/goose quill with brown (turkey) slips over, or spotted turkey (matched pair)
- Head Black ostrich herl (small)
How to tie it
- Lay a thread base and form a small flat gold tip above the barb.
- Tie in a married tail of brown over white quill fibers.
- Tie in the flat gold rib, then wrap a red floss (or wool) body forward and rib in 4-5 even turns.
- Wind or tie in a brown hen hackle as a soft collar/beard swept down.
- Set matched white quill slips with brown/turkey over (or spotted turkey) as a low downwing.
- Whip finish a small black head and cement.
